Eastridge Legal is staffing for an IP Patent and Trademark Specialist.

The position is responsible for coordinating the intake process for incoming/new clients and matters, as assigned, including incoming lateral patent/trademark timekeepers and IP administrative tasks related thereto. The individual is also responsible for administrative tasks related to patent and trademark transfers out of the Firm.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct physical and/or electronic records review upon intake or prior to transfer out of patent and trademark matters, as assigned;
  • Submit subject matter conflict checks to and request client/matter numbers from Business Intake and Conflicts Department (BIC), assign patent docket numbers, request physical files/labels (as needed), and manually enter prosecution, opposition, dispute, domain name, and/or copyright matters into Firm’s IP management database; coordinate, as needed, for incoming counseling matters;
  • Audit patent/trademark data following import of electronic docketing data into Firm’s IP management database;
  • Update Firm’s IP management database after completion of a transfer out;
  • Prepare POA and/or withdrawal of POA forms for filing at USPTO and/or WIPO, as directed;
  • Correspond with foreign associates, as needed, regarding Firm’s new/previous responsibility for patent/trademark matters;
  • Coordinate process for internal client-to-client transfers;
  • Collaborate with BIC, Information Governance and/or Finance/Accounting, as needed;
  • Special projects, which may include database maintenance, clean-up and back-up docketing support


  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of previous domestic and foreign patent and/or trademark paralegal/docketing experience in a law firm setting
  • Possess knowledge of US, WIPO and foreign patent and/or trademark rules, particularly as they pertain to docketing
  • Experience searching, navigating and/or filing (as appropriate) via USPTO’s Private PAIR, EFS-Web, EPAS, TESS, TSDR, and ETAS systems, PCT Safe, WIPO, European Patent Register, EUIPO, Madrid Monitor, SAEGIS and a vast array of other foreign patent and trademark office websites.
  • Knowledge of IP management/docketing software required (Inprotech helpful)
  • Must also exhibit good presence and ability to work well with others, including cross-office via email/phone/video, and with clients; and ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, challenging environment and under pressure, as well as extended hours, as needed
  • A college degree is preferred.
